  3. <hi style=afpcap>The Fisher Division of General Motors designed a sleek pursuit aircraft designated the P-75 Eagle. Eight XP-75 prototypes were ordered in 1943 with the first performing its maiden flight in September 1943. A further five P-75As were ordered shortly afterwards, with these being used for evaluation. </hi>
